One of the things they do in the project is candle making. They sell them to cover the costs but most of all they create! People who once had no hope learn to make something beautiful, in the process they learn to think differently about themselves.
Meenakshi (on the left in the photo) is an ex resident who has trained to become a trainer.
Here's the text of an email sent to me from Purnata Bhavan
Dear Steve,
What can a few moulds do?Thought of sending this to you. Candle making is resurrected at Purnata Bhavan, Sujata & Meenakshi have set up the candle unit again and have started making candles and what more we have got an order for 300 candles from nasik, we have sold quite a few to visitors. you could also see meenakshi in action. Soon we look forward to teaching the skill to the other women and it will be meenakshi doing it. She has been training 5 girls from the local village in ta Thanks for the moulds too that was a good begining.
